Safe Environment Engineering developed a great product. It’s a cellphone-size device that monitors workers in enclosed spaces—like airplane fuel tanks that have to be cleaned periodically. Health & Safety regulations dictate that every person inside an enclosed, often hazardous space has to have a person outside nearby to monitor them.

The Safe Environment guys developed a monitor so effective that one person could effectively monitor up to 100 workers in enclosed spaces. Their system met all requirements and was even endorsed by the appropriate government agencies. This could free up lots of workers whose only job was to stand around hollering “are you okay?” so they could do actual productive work.

The problem was that purchasing decision makers tended to be resistant to new ideas. And cost savings was not a big part of their purchasing equation. We needed to get their attention and pique their interest.

Our solution was a post card campaign that communicated the safety benefits of the monitor quickly and with few words—so they’d “get the message” on their way to tossing the card into the wastebasket.
